Holy crap brother.......met my wife of 35 years at U of I in Champaign as well. Me in Taft, she in VanDoren. I think they have raised them both. Me, dual degrees in Engineering and Agriculture and she in Nursing. My oldest daughter, now 24 and still in school at Loyola finishing her PhD, toured Champaign on a cold January weekend and simply said....NFW dad! And with a 32 on her ACT, she could go anywhere! She chose Florida State University where there was not political bullsh*t around the Seminoles and Chief Osceola. In 2006 when they killed off Chief Illiniwek, we stopped donating to scholarship funds and while we have lifetime alumni memberships, we have little to do with the university and my youngest son, now 13, pretty sure he won't attend there either. Everything I needed to know in life came from Lane. U of I was just a pedigree we paid for that opened doors early in our employment carriers. Anyway, small world. We have lived the past 20 years in Park Ridge.
Grace and Arthur, thanks for the updated info on Worm. I can't add the actual month and date of his death on the site, just the year. I updated his birthdate and added a photo, and the link to the obituary that Arthur supplied. Thanks
