Looking for something to do on Valentines Day that'll make you smile and won't break the bank? Join a few of us 76ers and some 75ers at Lane for the Winter Musical. The kids are super talented, they always give alumni a shout out before the performance, and we get well-situated, reserved seating.

This is a modern take on Shakespeare's comedy that's full of great music including New Orleans jazz, R&B, and even a little disco.

Get tickets through the Lane Tech Alumni Association at Twelfth Night-Lane Tech's 2026 Winter Musical

GENERATION JONES? I have to admit, I kinda like the idea. What say you?

Generation Jones are not quite boomers but not quite Gen X. For most of their lives, those born between 1954 and 1965 have been lumped in with the baby boomers, but culturally they’ve never quite fit.

They were too young to be involved in the major civil rights, women’s liberation and Vietnam war movements of the 60s, instead witnessing those social upheavals through children’s eyes. But they were also too old to identify with the Gen X latchkey kid angst.

Jonathan Pontell is the television producer, director, and writer who named Generation Jones and explained what made them unique. “We fill the space between Woodstock and Lollapalooza, between the Paris student riots and the anti-globalisation protests, and between Dylan going electric and Nirvana going unplugged,” he wrote in Politico in 2009.

I believe I am truly somewhere between a Boomer and a Joneser.

Hey everybody, one of our classmates is trying to get his ring replaced but Jostens doesn't have a template for our year so they are asking for a few images in order to recreate it.

I don't have a men's 1976 ring in the LTAA archives and the women's is so small I have to believe it's not exactly the same as the men's, so I'm asking our guys to please send pictures of your rings, especially the right and left sides. Not sure how much customization we were allowed back then so I welcome as many different images as possible.

Any help appreciated!

Hey there! I lost my ring ages ago and have often wondered if it would be possible to get a replacement. Please keep me posted with details on making it happen or a contact for more information.

Thanks,

James

I'm adding my images to the ones that Robert Schultz posted earlier because I seem to recall we had the option of either our intials, or the Liberty Bell on the left side of the ring.  He went with the bell, and mine has initials.  Just something to consider if you're planning on ordering a replacement.

Michelle,

I just joined the other day.

I posted last night James (Jim) Beier's obituary yesterday.

I see that his deceased year was updated from "unknown" to "2008".

Thank you for the efficiency of that update. Very respectful!

If it was not you, kudos to your staff and the great leadership.

Chuck

In the continuing saga of the 1976 Class ring I have bad news. Either Jostens was not our vendor or they lost the master mold. Either way, they cannot reproduce our ring. :(

They CAN offer a generic Lane Tech class ring with the clock tower, our year, and initials. Also, the ring now includes a synthetic stone rather than the original tourmaline.  I am waiting to get a rendering and pricing to share with both men and women who might be interested,

In the meantime... was anyone on the Pin and Ring committee who might recall who we got our rings from??? Maybe it wasn't Jostens?

Timmy Wong

Our class ring vendor was Jostens.  I had lost my ring in the 1977 timeframe and I contacted them to have a replacement made.  Luckily, I bought the insurance and didn't have to pay for a new one!  Since then, like 10 or 15 years later, I was contacted by someone who found my ring and returned it to me.  Now, I have it in a "safe" place so I have to go look for it!  Haha!

RE #1911

Michelle, my ring (which will slip off either of my pinky fingers, but won't fit any of the others any longer, sigh) definitely is stamped "Josten Ster" inside. Sad that they lost our mold.

RE #1912

Timmy, amazing that you now have your original and a remake - BY JOSTEN. @Bob Cole also has a positive original ring return story. Unfortunately, @Michelle has experienced in the Alumni Office a couple of scammers who wanted owners to pay a ransom for returning their class rings - REALLY, there are some awful people out there. Any other positive lost ring stories out therea, fellow 76'ers?

Hey all 76'ers! I tremendously enjoyed attending the 2026 Spring Training Event hosted by the LTHS Alumni Association at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona on March 1st! It was only my second time attending, as it was only possible for me to make that trek on a regular (non-extended-holiday) weekend following retirement. What a great time with alumni of all years, young, middle-aged, retired like me - both at the ballpark ("Chicago won," as Georgette would say) and at the very well-attended after party at Good Time Charli's, where we alums took over the back room plus. I wish I had more photos to share (a few attached here), but was having too good a time talking to folks. It will be even more awesome to share good times with fellow alumni of our own 1976 class at this September's 50th Reunion events! If you haven't already, please check out the 50th Reunion and registration links at the left navigation bar. GO LANE GO!!

Great stuff! Has anyone mentioned or noticed that it lookslike a business is operationg in the old Hero's building? I drove past it today on my way to Alexander's (located at Montrose & Western) for breakfast this morning. Good food and great service. Right Michelle?

Here's the link to the recent article about Retro Pizza.

Could use some branding and messaging over the front door!

Robert Cole

The pizza looks like it might be pretty good. And, you'd think, right next to a big HS they have a built-in clientele. (If they serve slices at lunch). But their name and branding leaves a lot to be desired. In a pizza town like Chicago you've got to have a lot to succeed.

I think we need to take a Bicentennial Roadtrip!

Hey check this out.  From 1976 to today!

Even the superstars succumb to gravity and time. It doesn't matter how you've changed, you still have myrtle & gold DNA coursing through you and you need to be with other Laneites the weekend of September 19th.

Register for the reunion today!

Philip A Lopez (Lopez)

Hey Michelle, Quick question.  I resgistered and paid for my wife and I to attend the Reunion and printed the Reciept.  My question is are there supposed to be tickests issued, or do you alredy have us and name tags will be given out upon our arrival.  Please advise Thanks, Phil Lopez

03/20/26 06:02 PM #1921

Michelle Milkovic (Weiner)

Great question Phil,

There are no physical tickets.

You will be on a roster for check in at the events and will have name tags and we can easily confirm everyone's attendance closer to the event date.

So glad you're coming!!!!
